This is my weekly post where I highlight and appreciate cover designs and the general physical appearance of books. We all judge book covers to some extent. I can’t say that I’ve ever decided against a book with terrible cover art if I liked the sound of the plot, but I have purchased special editions of books, or multiple editions of books based on their cover art. If book covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t put out so many beautiful editions!
When I found out Lowry was writing a fourth book in the Giver series, I knew I wanted to read it (though, to no one’s surprise, I still haven’t) and I was happy to see special editions being released. I bought this edition because it’s lovely to look at, but in hindsight, it’s rather bulky for reading purposes and now I’m thinking I should have purchased the four novels separately (and may still do so). That being said, I’m still glad I own this. 2014, HMH, ISBN: 9780544340978.
wow that’s a very beautiful edition !
