Judging A Book By Its Cover: Goth Girl

This is my weekly post where I highlight and appreciate cover designs and the general physical appearance of books. We all judge book covers to some extent. I can’t say that I’ve ever decided against a book with terrible cover art if I liked the sound of the plot, but I have purchased special editions of books or multiple editions of books based on their cover art. If book covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t put out so many beautiful editions!

I originally spotted this book on IG and couldn’t resist – the main character is dressed in my favorite color, it’s a middle grade book with fantastic illustrations and the title shares the nickname of one of my closest friends! This book is fabulously designed and I love all the little details like the metallic endpaper and the tiny book about the mouse that comes with it. This was published by Pan MacMillan in 2013, ISBN: 9780230759800.
