This is my weekly post where I highlight and appreciate cover designs and the general physical appearance of books. We all judge book covers to some extent. I can’t say that I’ve ever decided against a book with terrible cover art if I liked the sound of the plot, but I do purchase special editions of books and multiple editions of books based on their cover art. If book covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t put out so many beautiful editions!
Surprising no one, I wanted this book purely for the illustrations. Yes, I enjoy fairy tales, but if I never get the chance to read this book, I won’t even care. It’s for the enjoyment of my eyeballs. It’s got a slipcase and a ribbon bookmark and huge glossy pages and it’s so colorful and gorgeous and oh my gourd. Illustrated by Kay Nielsen, edited by Noel Daniel, designed by Andy Disl and published in 2015 by Taschen GmbH, ISBN: 9783836532297.
Wow this book is gorgeous! I think I need it in my life!

Oh my God!!! 🤣🤣🤣 You have no idea how excited I am to see you feature this book…or maybe you do since you love beautiful books n illustrations too 🤣
I saw it featured in on of booktuber Jen Campbell’s videos n was thinking to get it but wanted to see more samples of the illustrations first n how big the book is but was having difficulty finding that and now Boom! Here you featured it in a post! Am so glad. I’m gonna get me a copy too when my book budget for January kicks in.

Yeah it’s huge, a big square. It’s so gorgeously designed too! I love the typography details as well as the art. You’re going to love it!

😀 I read that with a huge grin on my face. It will be my first book purchase of the year and only because I have some Christmas money left.

I don’t think I’ve ever read the book, but I think somewhere I have a book about the illustrator, many of these look familiar and I was trying to figure out why!
