This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent – I created this feature to highlight and appreciate the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t put out so many wonderful editions!
This book was on my wishlist and Chelsea was kind enough to gift it to me for Christmas. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find out how large the book is – it’s more akin to a children’s picture book than a typical comic or graphic novel. More room for these adorable illustrations! Reading this gave me a yearning for tea dragons to be real that was just a strong as my childhood desire for Pokemon to exist. Written and illustrated by Katie O’Neill, published by Oni Press in 2017, ISBN: 9781620104415.
I love the illustrations! And those animals are too cute for words!

It’s so worth it. The art is fantastic and the pages are so colorful and huge! It’s a feel good comic for sure. Plus, dragons!

I didn’t know this was a comic when I first heard about it. I have never read a comic outside of a Sunday newspaper. I guess there is a first time for everything. Plus, dragons! Arrrrr!

Yeah maybe the term is graphic novel? I’m not really sure, but it’s wonderful!

Such pretty illustrations. This is one I really want too. I was going to get it last year, but by then I’d already gone over my book budget.

Oh my goodness! How adorable!!! They do kind of give off a pokemon-ish vibe. Do you have a age range you would think it would appeal to? AND would you say it would appeal to boys as well as girls?

Yeah it’s definitely suitable for younger readers. It focuses a lot on friendship and understanding and following your strengths! The two main youngsters are girls, but it’s not a super girly book. I think boys would like it if they’re into fantasy and a different breed of dragons.
