Monthly Wrap Up

February Wrap Up

In February I read 10 books for a total of 2,285 pages and an average of 82 pages per day. Pretty good for such a short month!

I had a good time buddy reading The Jane Austen Project with Nicole (er, well, as usual, I read too fast, but we did discuss after!) and I think that’s my favorite book of this month, though Autonomous is a close second. I also really loved my reread of Northanger Abbey and have a better understanding of Jane’s tone and a new appreciation for the novel!

Pride and Prometheus by John Kessel
First Sentence: At the age of nineteen, Miss Mary Bennet had believed three things that were not true.

A few thoughts on Goodreads:

The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

Jane Austen Cover to Cover by Margaret C. Sullivan

Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

The Jane Austen Kama Sutra by Joelle Herr (I’ve got a Judging post for this one if you’re interested)

Reviews to come:

The Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A. Flynn
First Sentence: What kind of maniac travels in time?

Autonomous by Annalee Newitz
First Sentence: The student wouldn’t stop doing her homework, and it was going to kill her.

Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay
First Sentence: Dear Sir, It has been a year since I turned down your generous offer.

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
First Sentence: No one who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her infancy, would have supposed her born to be an heroine.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer (this review will be coming much later, as I plan to do the whole series)
First Sentence: How does one describe Artemis Fowl?

I’m on a roll with these monthly DNF’s – this was for the book club Chelsea and Julie are hosting and not only am I pretty sure that romance/new adult/whatever this book isn’t my genre, but I also can’t listen to smut on audio. Too awkward. I had a lot of issues with this book in a short amount of listening time too.

American Queen by Sierra Simone

I also watched several movies and TV shows this month. I’ve done review posts here and here.

Scents & Sensibility
Pride and Prejudice, A Latter-Day Comedy
Northanger Abbey

My TBR Tear Down challenge was a huge flop this month. I did sneak in Artemis Fowl at the end, to at least get a start on the series. Austen Month took up most of my attention (I only snuck in Autonomous because Sweetbeeps was threatening to read it first – can’t have that!) and my first thought was to put the Tear Down on hold. I should have just done that. I gave myself a pass and added Digital Fortress and Witch’s Trinity back to the queue.

I’m not even going to post my little chart this month.

  1. I think for our next buddy read maybe I should get a head start by starting it a week before our actually start date, maybe then ill actually finish when you do. Hahaha
