Monthly Wrap Up

June Wrap Up

June!

In June I read 14 books for a total of 3,098 pages and an average of 103 pages per day. Despite reading way less on vacation than I thought (because I was so busy eating good food and doing other fun stuff, so it’s ok), this was a good month for me.

And not just numbers-wise! The majority of my reads were 4 and 5 stars with only a few stinkers! I nearly didn’t finish Gold Fame Citrus, but it started off so strong and I hoped it would pick back up. It didn’t. I only had 1 DNF this month, but looking back, I really should have given up on Citrus too.

Reviewed:

Tomorrow’s Kin by Nancy Kress
First Sentence: The publication party was held in the dean’s office, which was supposed to be an honor.
If Tomorrow Comes by Nancy Kress

Void Black Shadow by Corey J. White

The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish
-Audiobook-
American Hippo by Sarah Gailey (I didn’t reread the two novellas, just the two shorts)
Worth Her Weight in Gold

Nine and a Half

Gold Fame Citrus by Claire Vaye Watkins

*despite wanting to throw this book down a well, that’s one of the best first sentences ever.
Lady Killer vol 1 by Joelle Jones
Monstress vol 1 by Marjorie Lu
East of West vol 2 by Jonathan Hickman

Review to come:

Only Forward by Michael Marshall Smith
First Sentence: Once there was a boy in a house.

DNF:

The Scent of Sake by Joyce Lebra
First Sentence: It was a day Rie would never forget, the day her mother told her who her husband would be.

I’ve yet again failed at my TBR Tear Down. I did get Scent of Sake off my TBR at least. I’m not unhauling the de Lint books because he’s an author I hoard. But I did at least start Trader this month. I’m hoping that next month I’ll actually pick new books and read them!

  1. You read Circe! I read Song of Achilles last month and LOVED it! Madeline Miller is a brilliant author. Actually, she was on tour near me last night, but I wasn’t able to attend because I was hosting a surprise baby shower for a friend… I must admit, I contemplated canceling the baby shower so I could attend lol
