Welcome to August, here’s a random tag I found.
Not sure who created this (I’m thinking maybe one of the peeps who runs the blog), but I found it over on the Book Loving Nut. They’ve compiled a whole list of tags here!
+ You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next?
Haha I mean, I feel like I have 20,000 books in my TBR. I might as well, because let’s face it – it’s not like I’m going to read every book I own anyway. I’m typically a mood reader. I might pick up a recent arrival, or something dusty (literally) from the shelves. I try to keep up with review books, so I might have a deadline I’m working with. And I’m trying to pay attention to my backlist, but that’s not really working out. What I’m getting at, is that it’s a pretty random process most of the time.
+ You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?
Put that bitch down! Ok, I mean, there are books I’ve finished this year and given low ratings too, but I’m trying to really be mindful of why I’m continuing to read them if I’m not enjoying them. If I’m curious enough about where the plot is going, I’ll probably keep reading. If it’s a book I asked to review, maybe I will, but if I’m really hating it, I’ll probably give it a DNF. I don’t want to finish a book just to finish a book anymore.
+ The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? And if so, how?
This is a real thing. The end of the year is coming. And while I’m doing well on the number of books I’ve read this year, I’m doing terrible at reading books from my backlist. Pretty sure there’s no catching up. Honestly, it’s not a contest. I set reading goals for myself, but I always want reading to be a pleasure, not a chore!
+ The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?
Poorly. I whine about them on the internet and if I can, I’ll get my hands on a matching copy. If I can’t, I’ll forever be upset about the fact that they don’t match.
+ Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?
If you’ve been around for any period of time, you might be aware I’m not usually one to ride the hype-train, especially where YA novels are concerned. But I can usually find someone online who dislikes a book as much as I do. Or I’ll give a dramatic reenactment of the plot, including my snarky commentary, to my friend Sarah because she makes me feel like I’m actually funny and witty.
+ You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?
I’ve never seen the face I make, but I definitely make a face in an attempt to avoid crying and I’m sure it’s horrendous.
+ The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?
Probably yes. If I can find something online that gives a detailed summary, I’ll read that. But chances are high I’ll reread.
+ You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?
HaHAHAH.
I don’t.
I rudely declare, “I’m not a library.”
+ You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?
I’d just reread an old favorite like The Hobbit or P&P or something. Haha or maybe go out and buy a new book to read.
+ There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read, how many do you end up buying?
All of them, probably. I mean, have you seen my fucking TBR? Zero self-control -_-
+ After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read how long do they sit on your shelves before you get to them?
Forever and ever.
~
Well, there you go! I try to find tags that aren’t repeats of the same questions I’ve done before. This one felt pretty fresh.
Do you share any of my bad habits?
I love this tag, I may do it on my blog, if that’s okay?
Talking of having zero self control on book buying: today I’ve bought 2 new books and pre-ordered about 8… woops?

Haha go for it! I’m too lazy to ever actually tag people. I ordered 9 books recently simply cuz I’ve been with my husband for 9 years LOL

Sounds like the perfect reason to buy 9 books!!

“I rudely declare, “I’m not a library.””
OMG I am totally stealing this! I HATE loaning my books out and I always awkwardly brush it off when someone asks. I spend a shit load of money on my books and I don’t want stupid people duffing them up lol

Yeah I don’t care about being rude lol. I’ve put a lot of money into my collection over the years. In general I don’t loan any of my stuff out. But deff not my books. And if people are slow readers it’s even worse. Libraries are a thing that exist and I’ll gladly recommend books for people to borrow from THEM. 🤣
