Starting the month off with a quick tag I saw over at Hardback Hoarder ages ago because I’m not ready for it to be October!
+ A really hyped book you’re not interested in reading?
Well, you could guess that I might say basically every YA book…and you’d be right!
But I feel like one of the new releases I see people talking about (and by people I mean some on my Goodreads feed and the few people on YouTube I follow) Dance of Thieves. I can tell just from the blub that the book is going to be more focused on romance than fantasy and we all know that’s not my thing!
+ A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing?
I crapped out on the Chronicles of Narnia with only one book left – I just didn’t care! I enjoy Wardrobe because of the nostalgia factor, but none of the other books grabbed me.
+ A classic that you’re just not interested in?
There are quite a few – but some of the fairly popular ones (I think?) would be Anna Karenina, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and North and South.
+ Any genres you never read?
It’s rare you’ll see me picking up romance or non-fiction. I won’t say that there are no genres I’d never read though because if something sounds interesting I’ll give it a shot!
+ A book on your shelves you’ll probably never actually read?
Oh shit. Probably more of them than I care to admit. Uhhhmmmmm…..I don’t know! I’m going to kind of cheat and say any of the Dan Brown books I haven’t yet read because even though they’re really ones Sweetbeeps is interested in, they’re still on my shelves! I’m just over Mr. Brown.
~
Well, welcome to October! If you do this tag (or if you’ve done it in the past), let me know so I can check out your answers!
Hey “North & South” is pretty great, albeit a bit lengthy. 😦 Why won’t you read it?

It’s not impossible, but it’s so far down on my list. I don’t read a ton of classics anyway and I have so many other books I own. It just doesn’t interest me much.

Aww man. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a good one. It’s been a while since I’ve read it though.

I read an excerpt and didn’t enjoy the tone. But maybe if I read the whole thing? It’s not a priority though.

Totally understand. I feel the same about some classics.

I’ve read Dance of Thieves and I highly recommend you don’t read it. ;b It is, in fact, mostly a very messed up romance.

Haha yes, your review was the deciding factor for me. I was skeptical and you helped me rule it out

This is the first time I’ve seen this tag – it’d be interesting to think about what I don’t want to read instead of what I do want to read… I have a similar attitude towards YA and classics as you do.

Haha yeah pretty much any hyped YA book is on my never read list. It’s just not a genre I connect with often

LOL! I’ve actually been reading a good amount of YA lately. BUT I am totally with you, if it focuses too much on the romance, I’m out. I really try and pre-screen any YA books I attempt.
I’ve only read the first book in the Narnia series…. or at least I think it is? The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the first right? or is it one of those series that was written all out of order.

If they put “no romance!” on the back of YA novels then I’d give it a shot. But so often the plot revolves around romance or is thrown to the wayside so romance can happen. Bleh.
Technically the magicians nephew is book 1, but you don’t have to read it first.
