This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent (don’t lie, you totally do!) I created this feature to showcase and admire the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t make so many wonderful editions!
You might recall that I reviewed the book and the first two episodes of the Netflix series earlier this week. It’s a no-brainer that I’d also be doing a Judging post, because the main reason I bought this book was for the illustrations and design!
The book is written by Stephen Davies (based on the comics by Luke Pearson) and illustrated by Seaerra Miller, published in 2018 by Flying Eye Books, ISBN: 9781911171447.
I really appreciate when tiny details like page number accents are added! So thoughtful!
As I mentioned in my review, I didn’t end up keeping the book because it was a bit too young for me. However, I have a friend whose daughter is the perfect age and, luckily, an avid reader already. I was thrilled to find out she was thrilled to receive the book and knew who Hilda was. I’m so happy she’s loving the book and I love her fan art! It’s nice having a young reader to encourage!
I love the color scheme! And the illustrations are so cute!
