This may come as a surprise to some of you, but I have hobbies outside of buying and reading books and occasionally I participate in them! I figured I’d start a little segment to highlight my forays into the non-book world.
I recently went to a car show with my dad – it happens annually in our area and I love going. There are so many cool old cars to see and they do drag races too! It’s a pretty short run, just enough to see them speed up, only to slow down again. But I love seeing the cars face off against each other, hearing the roar of their engines (and, on occasion, feeling it), and watching them do burnouts. It really brings out my inner Mad Max! I could listen to the cars all day, imagining myself behind the wheel of some crazy car, speeding off into the distance like Furiosa in the War Rig.
So today I figured I’d show you just a few of the pictures I took! Hopefully next year I’ll be able to bring my Barracuda – not to race, of course, just to show.
This car was so weenie! It looks like a toy.
I really loved this metallic lavender – never seen a car this color before!
The guy lowered his truck after I took this picture so that it was completely touching the ground.
This is known as a ‘rat rod’ – there were several awesome ones at the show. People get so creative with the materials. And yes, it’s supposed to look like this.
I think I’d feel cooler cruising around in a rat rod than a hot rod. But there’s only one way to find out…
I loved this shade of blue too!
I love the look of the blacked-out chrome too. Makes for a mean grille.
Many of the rat rods have so many unique, small details – like these PBR caps!
Hopefully, you enjoyed having a look at one of my non-book interests. I know I sometimes post vacation pictures here, but that’s usually because I managed to get myself to at least one bookstore. If you enjoy this, let me know and I’ll share more!
