Judging A Book

Judging A Book By Its Cover: Amanda & Possibilities

This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent (don’t lie, you totally do!) I created this feature to showcase and admire the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t make so many wonderful editions!

Found these two on Book Outlet and since I’m a sucker for Austen adaptations, I bought them.

Debra White Smith has a retelling for each Austen novel and I won’t say I’m not tempted to just buy them all because they make a lovely set. However, Austen-inspired books are often hit or miss for me. I’ve read some great ones and some stinkers. So I’m forcing myself not to buy the rest of the set until I read these two and determine if I actually like the writing. Naturally, I haven’t actually gotten around to reading them yet!

Both books were published in 2006 by Bethany House, with cover design by Connie Gabbert. Possibilities ISBN: 9780764230721; Amanda ISBN: 9780764230714.

      1. Yea… I’m not a Jane Austen fan. although I’ve only tried Pride & Prejudice so maybe I should try something else before saying that. Anyway, not a fan but am tempted to get her books sometimes because of the beautiful designs.

        1. Well a lot of others prefer Emma and Persuasion, so you might have some better luck there. I’m biased of course, but if you didn’t totally hate P&P, of course I’m gonna recommend you give her a second chance.
