This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent (don’t lie, you totally do!) I created this feature to showcase and admire the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t make so many wonderful editions!
My friend Mel gifted me the most amazing, ginormous, interactive, semi-pop-up book for my birthday this year. If you check my Instagram for the same day this post goes up, I’ll have a picture of the book next to Lilu for scale. (I maybe should have just put it in this post too but I’m far too lazy to go do that now.)
Anyway, this thing has fold-out pages full of lore about three popular villains – a wolf, a giant, and a witch. There are all sorts of cool little details to discover. I can’t recommend this enough if you enjoy interactive books. I love the art style too!
The text and illustrations are by Clotilde Perrin, and this was published by Gecko Press in 2018, ISBN: 9781776571987.
I took so many more pictures but didn’t feel like editing them and I’m not really sure y’all would want to scroll through like 60 pictures.
Gary, is that you?
Wow, I was not expecting this book to be that cleverly designed and intricate. I love the whimsical art style. What a lucky gift!

Adding to my Goodreads. I love this book! It’s so funny and I like the little snail on the cover.
I’m a kid at heart. I love pop-out, interactive books. I get so distracted by them when working in the bookstore.

Yes I have a nice little pop up collection going and I basically count this as one. I’d love to see more creatures, like a dragon, troll and an evil queen or something!

Oooo that book looks awesome! I wonder if it is going to be a series since there are only 3 “villians” featured…
