Judging A Book

Judging A Book By Its Cover: Austen Inspirations

This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent (don’t lie, you totally do!) I created this feature to showcase and admire the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t make so many wonderful editions!

Camp Austen by Ted Scheinman, features cover design by Rachel Willey and book design by Jonathan D. Lippincott, published in 2018 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, ISBN: 9780865478213.

Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev has cover design and illustration by Kimberly Glyder, published in 2019by William Morrow, ISN: 9780062839053.

Among the Janeites by Deborah Yaffe has cover design by Martha Kennedy, textile design by Anna Maria Garthwaite (fun fact: a textile designer in the 1600-1700s), and book design by Alex Camlin, published in 20163 by Mariner, ISBN: 9780547757723.

I love this dedication!

Pretty sure the crooked spine printing isn’t intentional – could by why it was on Book Outlet.

I know a lot of you hate on deckle edges, but I am totally their bitch.
