This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent (don’t lie, you totally do!) I created this feature to showcase and admire the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t make so many wonderful editions!
I have three random books today, none of which I’ve read. :]
The Sorcerer to the Crown is written by Zen Cho and was published in 2015 by Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781447299462. The cover art is attributed to Shutterstock…so….
Same Same is by Peter Mendelsund and he designed the cover too! It was published in 2019 by Vintage Books, ISBN: 9780525435884.
Less is by Andrew Sean Greer, with cover art by Leo Espinosa, cover design by Julianna Lee, interior illustrations by Lilli Carre, and book design by Sean Ford! That’s a lot of design! It was published by Little, Brown in 2017, ISBN: 9780316316132.
The first time I looked at the cover I didn’t notice the two faces. I love details like that!
Footnotes can be fun.
I know deckle edges are a hot topic – I like them!
I love the detail of his missing shoe. I think blurb pages are useless, but at least they made this one colorful and kept the theme from the cover!
