This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent (don’t lie, you totally do!) I created this feature to showcase and admire the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t make so many wonderful editions!
You may recall that last week I showed off my copy of King of Scars – now I’m back with the rest of the books from that first photo!
All three books were published by Squarefish (design on-point, as I’ve come to expect from them!) with maps by Keith Thompson, cover designs by Natalie C. Sousa and Ellen Duda, and book designs by April Ward.
Shadow and Bone – published in 2013, ISBN: 9781250027436
Siege and Storm – published in 2014, ISBN:9781250044433
Ruin and Rising – published in 2014, ISBN:9781250063168
This really is a beautifully designed set of books and it came in a nice box with a full-size map! And I’ve actually read Shadow and Bone! I need to get on with the series before I forget everything. I love all the little design details throughout, like drop caps, the chapter headers, even the details by the page numbers, not to mention the maps and cover art!
Also, I just want to say, that all of Bardugo’s books are beautifully designed (also evidenced by my Judging post on The Language of Thorns) and I can’t wait to own them all!
I really love these covers as I think they balance simplicity with elegance. And the colors! They really stand out!
