Austen Month, Monthly Wrap Up

February Wrap Up

In February I read 6 books for a total of 1,546 pages and an average of 55 pages per day. Given my crazy ambitious Austen Month TBR, I think I had a pretty successful month.

I’m still pretty behind on reviews – as in I haven’t reviewed jack-shit from the past month. But I had a decent reading/watching month considering it’s the shortest (except for this year it’s only a day shorter than some months, but it feels like it’s a week shorter!) I enjoyed more of what I watched than read though, and Unnatural Magic was definitely the standout read for me – which I had the joy of buddy reading with my friend Zezee!

Sanditon by Jane Austen
First Sentence:
A gentleman and lady traveling from Tonbridge towards that part of the Sussex coast which lies between Hastings and Eastbourne, being induced by business to quit the high road, and attempt a very rough lane, were overturned in  toiling up its long ascent half rock, half sand.

Unnatural Magic by C.M. Waggoner
First Sentence:
Onna Gebowa had always liked numbers.

Camp Austen by Ted Scheinman
First Sentence:
A love for books and mischief is often born in childhood, and it seems possible that no child in English letters has ever had as much fun pillaging her father’s library as the young Jane Austen; certainly no other child has left such a record of her resulting spoils.

Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev
First Sentence:
So much about the world baffled Dr. Trisha Raje, but she was never at a loss for how to do her job.

Night Shift by Debi Gliori

Dangerous Alliance by Jennieke Cohen
First Sentence:
The lichen-kissed stone dropped onto the rock pule with a hollow clack.

Pride / Prejudice by Ann Herendeen
First Sentence:
“It is a truth universally acknowledged,” Fitz said, “that a single man in possession of a good fortune is in want of a wife.”

I will be posting a review of this (eventually), so I’ll just say that I thought this was going to be cheesy fun and instead it was mostly a bore-fest.

I also plan to do a review post for everything I watched, but I’ll tell you right now, I pretty much loved it all!
