This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent (don’t lie, you totally do!) so I created this feature to showcase and admire the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t make so many wonderful editions!
I’ve a rare treat today: two books I’ve read! Dumb Birds is funny and well-illustrated. Witch Hat is the start of what I thought was a pretty intriguing magical manga, but I haven’t managed to get more volumes yet.
Dumb Birds was written and illustrated by Matt Kracht with design by Jane Huerta and published in 2019 by Chronicle Books, ISBN: 9781452174037.
Witch Hat was written and illustrated by Kamome Shirahama, with letter design by Lys Blakeslee and cover design by Phil Balsman, and was published in 2019 by Kodansha Comics, ISBN: 9781632367709.
Me, any time I try to do basically anything.
I love how creepy that hat and mask combo is.
I was really intrigued by the guide to “Dumb Birds.” It sounds hilarious, but do the poor birds deserve it? XD

I mean, some of these birds have to be genuinely dumb, right? 🤣

Well, probably. But I’m not going to be the one to tell them! 😀

Only read the book indoors and they’ll never know 😅

I’m now envisioning a scene like The Birds happening to me because I insulted the wildlife by reading this book outside. Who knew the birds were so sensitive?
