Dreamy Book Covers Tag

I was tagged by Zezee to do the Dreamy Book Covers tag (created by Tiana at The Book Raven) and seeing how I have weekly posts dedicated to all the beautiful books I own, it would be a disservice not to do this tag!

I’m going to try to use books that I don’t constantly talk about here, or haven’t mentioned in a while, but we’ll see!

+ “No ideas but in things” A cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it

Ok, so I am already retracting my earlier statement and talking about The City of Dreaming Books. But I must champion this book every chance I get because not enough of you are talking about it! It’s the perfect book for book lovers!

It’s jam-packed with books and creatures who read books and eat books and live and breathe books and I’m still blown away by how underrated it is!

+ “Dark and lovely” A cover that is so creepalicious you just want to eat it up

It’s possible that there’s some book in the house with a cover that fits this description, but nothing came to mind. I’m not about to dig through 2,000 books for something fitting. Sweetbeeps and I don’t read a lot of horror books either.

So I’m going to use this awful cover I saw while I was out and about with a friend –  I certainly don’t want to eat it, but I do think the cover for Humorous Tales is creepy!

+ “Sugary sweet” A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug

I know I also just mentioned Hindu Deities, but it’s the first thing that came to mind. It really plays on my Sanrio nostalgia.

+ “A simple aesthetic” A cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design

Doesn’t get simpler than The Fuck-Up! I don’t have much to say about this one, except that while taking this picture I noticed the image of a pigeon in the bottom corner. Maybe if I ever read this, it’ll make more sense.

+ “Cover envy” A cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t…yet

There are too many books on this list to count, so I picked one of my more recent finds: Norma

+ “Travelling abroad” A beautiful cover featuring a country outside of your own

I don’t own this gem yet either, but I will someday because I loved the story and the cover is divine. Creatures of Will and Temper is set in England.

+ “The Color wheel” A cover that showcases one of your favorite colors

I love purple and blue equally, so I picked one for each: Goldeline and The Queen is Dead

+ “Switching gears” A cover change you absolutely adore

I have nothing against the two vintage editions of Red as Blood that I own, but I am head-over-heels in love with Bastien’s designs and am all about the Tor reissue of Redder Than Blood.

+ “Oldie but goodie” A favorite cover of your favorite classic

I basically just closed my eyes and pointed at random, because the reason I have over 30 copies (omg, don’t judge me) of Pride and Prejudice is that there are so many wonderful editions! This one is extra special because I bought it while on my honeymoon in Aruba and I’ve never seen this edition anywhere else.

+ “And the winner is…” Which cover mentioned above is your favorite?

I don’t like to play favorites with my collection! I decided to take a page from Zezee’s book and pick yet another book to show you. I love the mix of nature and clockwork on this cover for I Am Radar.

~

Do you own or have you seen different editions of these books? Well, see any covers that tickle your fancy? Have I helped expand your wishlist at all? That’s really my goal here –evil cackle-

  1. Lol of course a Tanith Lee book snuck in 😀
So glad you did the tag! And yea, you did inspire me with it. I placed Goldeline on my Goodreads TBR because I like the cover, and am about to order City of Dreaming Books. I gotta try it.
